There’s no doubt that asking, “What is a job?” seems like a strange question. In your own role, you are expected to find someone who can be hired to fill a job, to get someone to come in and do “the job,” what exactly is that? We live in a time when our roles change on a very regular basis. We’re expected to learn new skills, expand our ability to make an impact and rethink our role every year, every quarter and some time every week.
As the world becomes more (and more) fluid, our ability to develop and think about job descriptions hasn’t budged, which would explain why 98% of all job postings are atrocious. The description is trying to describe something that changes every day in a way to be valid for years.
